Hi Marlan, for that you would enter both keywords onto one line. So in your Positive Keywords box, instead of:

keyword #1
keyword #2

you'd have:

keyword #1 keyword #2

in one line in that box. Let me know if that helps.

Nice article. I've noticed that when I add in a positive keyword, it KEEPS all keywords that have that word. Then when I put in a second positive keyword it ADDS all keywords that have the second positive keyword, even if the first positive keyword ISN'T in the keyword.

So it is an OR thing : keyword(s) included = positive keyword #1 OR positive keyword #2

But I would like to have : keyword(s) included = pos keyword #1 AND pos keyword #2

Hi Julie. Let's see if I understand this correctly: You have a brand new keyword tab, titled let's say: your keyword phrase. And for some reason you've been taken straight to the Analyze page instead of the Generate page?

Can you see a button at the bottom of your screen that says "Modify Keywords" like the one in this shot here?:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/29745871@N03/5001548041/

If so, you click on that and it should take you straight to your Generate page.

If not, then I think you should probably put a support ticket to Noble Samurai, to helpdesk@noblesamurai.com

I hope this helps.

I am BRAND new to this tool ... and I was hoping to get a very very basic question answered ad can not find it anywhere. Perhaps you can help.

The first term I put in, I do not see where to get back to the Generate page. Its on the next page where you analyze. I have no keywords generated yet however, thus, my question. How do I get back to the Generate page?

PS
Thanks for the tips on this post, sounds like good basic info to know. Appreciated.

Hi ThatManViv - you can get a free in-depth glossary for the Keyword Research section of Market Samurai, here:
http://www.marketsamglossary.com/
That includes every column heading, button, jargon etc.

And I'll be updating it to include the SEO Competition module very soon :)

W o W . . . . . some work went into this reply eh .....

I was wondering if this was some sort of windup ....

did William H. really think that the info meant he would
earn that money ????? Nahhh, surely not.

And as I ferret thru various google search returns I can't
help but notice the confusion and disparity in understanding
of the various market samurai column headings and information
interpretation.

For Noble Samurai and the software itself is this is an indication
that their training videos haven't got the information across ?
Or should we be thinking on the lines that all
publicity is good publicity.

ThatManViv, what a lovely comment! Thank you so much. I hope you've signed up to be an affiliate, because there are only a few more hours left of the main affiliate launch (I don't know whether the affiliate sign-up will close for a while after that or what).

Anyone reading this who has Market Samurai and not yet signed up to be an affiliate, just go here: http://www.noblesamurai.com/blog/market-samurai/market-samurai-affiliate-program-1810

I'm no spring chick myself Viv, and I think you'll find that internet marketing is an area where it doesn't matter if you're 18 or 90, anyone who provides good content and gets people to read it can do well. Hooray!

Very nice to meet you too ThatManViv!

wellllllllllll ..... I tumbled into here from a warriorforum link
after google searching market samurai to investigate
what exactly would pop out of the woodwork and I want
to say that this seems to me to be a great example
to beginners of a brilliantly masterminded keywords-orientated
site which is welcoming, informative, and regularly maintained.
(mind you, in saying that, I hope I'm am making a good judgement !!!)

At 62, I'm starting late getting into IM but a guy from another
forum mentioned Market Samurai to me and I thought I would
take a look. Four days later I had watched all the market samurai
support videos and made notes on all of them and realised I had
discovered my first affiliate product. Before dollar signs appear
in my eyes tho I need to learn how to use it. I like the idea that
I've bought something that when I've mastered it will earn me
a living. And if my site has a feel as good as this I'll be happy.
Nice to meet you.

Isha, great round up of the Market Samurai videos. As the tool can be quite intense for some.

It's good to break it down and showcase some of the inner pieces.

Yes Mike, you are correct.

However, Noble Samurai's "The Niche Marketing Black Book" has the following:

"where do you find Visitor Values and Traffic Level data to help us work out the potential profits in a market?"

Noble Samurai have devised the formula

"Traffic (x Multiplied by) Value per Visitor (= Equals) TOTAL MARKET VALUE
This tells us the total monthly value of visitors searching
for a particular keyword (or keywords) in a market" (page 17)

You could get those customers using Adwords yes, and as you point out that is the way that SEOV is calculated.

If you were attracting the maximum possible traffic and conversions you would still be aiming for "the potential profits in a market" (and you could choose to use a combination of Adwords and sales through your site - mea culpa I should have pointed this up in the post).

When The Niche Marketing Black Book refers to "Market Value" it goes on to say:

"How big is the portion you're likely to capture?
Well that all depends...
• It depends on what you price your product for;
• It depends on the competition in your market;
• It depends on your visitor-to-sales conversion rates;
• It depends on how many competitors exist in the market;
• It depends on how easily you can achieve high rankings;" (page 19)

So the rankings are important, ergo SEOV is their best estimate of the market value whatever way you earn it - whether through a site or through adwords or through a combination. I should have pointed this out in the post.

SEOV is basically the "total value of traffic that a web-site that ranked #1 for a keyword in Google. Its value is as an indicator of the value of a keyword market" (from http://www.marketsamurai.com/glossary.php ) Note that the definition is *not* the total value of traffic for an *advertiser* that ranked #1 for a keyword in Google.

It's actually an area that I'd like clarification on, and hope I'll get some from the Noble Samurai team. Then I'll add to the post.

Meanwhile, I'll take the knocks & see if I can roll with the punches :)

WOOOOH!
(The “money” is the potential monthly value, but it’s not the traffic itself. Once we’re at #1 we have to look at ways to maximize our site’s income so that we can achieve the potential SEOV of $1,716.
We want to be looking at either affiliate products that are both popular and bring in a good income per unit, or at selling our own product. And test, test, test. Having a SEOV of $1,716 doesn’t guarantee that we’ll get that income. But it’s the best guide.)
If I understand correctly the SEOV has absolutely nothing to do with the amount of money that a site can earn!!
It is a calculation of how much it would cost you to get the SEOT traffic if you set out to get it by advertising.
?? how does that figure.
Well the SEOT is an estimation of how much traffic you will get if your site is sitting at number one broad for that keyword. I.e. it is 42.1% of the total traffic for the keyword.
The SEOV is a calculation of how much it would cost to buy that traffic (SEOT) by advertising in the number one alongside that keyword search spot using google adwords. i.e. cost per click multiplied by the number of clicks required to get the SEOT traffic. (i.e. SEOT X AWCPC). End of story.
As I see it there is no correlation between the amount of money you can make from the web site.. Well maybe a wild vague correlation but not worth considering.
What is worth considering is; is it easier/cheaper/faster/better to buy the traffic by advertising rather than social climbing. That depends on the product you're selling, its value to you in $ terms, the conversion rate and other factors.
The SEOV gives you a very handy calculation to make that decision.
But does not give you an indication of how much you may make from a site.
Please correct me if I’m wrong..
